Deb,

I found it when looking for info on the Mariavites. The Mariavites were orginally Catholics, but followed a seer who believed in all sorts of weird things. They were officially disbanded by the bishops of Poland. They left the Church, became "Old Catholics", got their own bishop consecrated and became increasingly odd compared to their Catholic past. They soon ended up with priests marrying nuns and having "spiritual" children (supposedly conceived without original sin), women priests, women bishops, and then a radical form of priesthood of all believers where apparently mom at home with the kids can consecrate the Eucharist on their own. That's a wee bit out of step with Catholic theology. And all of these novelties developed in just about 25 years! There is a very well researches, but not well written, book about them called THE THIRD ADAM. (I think the author's name is Pietrkiewicz). The Mariavites still exist. Apparently at one time at least they practiced polygamy in the 1920's. I have no idea if they still do. The Catholic Church has a decent relationship with them today (after all the pope is Polish and grew up in the same country while some of this was happening). I don't see any possibility of reunion though because the Mariavite theology is just bizarre.
