ATT,

The purpose of Latin is that is ensures a stable liturgy with an unchanging vocabulary. Why do so many people here like the KJV? They believe it is an unchanged Bible, well made in 1611 and not needing changes since then. Well, that's how many people view the old Mass.

When I attend the Divine Liturgy at the Russian Orthodox Church in Communion with Rome I really enjoy the fact that it is in Old Church Slavonic. I can then attend a liturgy which was almost the same among the Russians in the eleventh century soon after they became Christians. That tradition may mean nothing to a Protestant, but to a Russian Orthodox it might mean a lot to know that he worships the same way as his earliest Christian (ethnic) ancestors.

I also enjoy the beauty of the Missa Cantata, a sung Mass in Latin. It is a beautiful liturgy and I, quite frankly, would rather be able to say I assisted at a beautiful offering then a so-so one. I like to give God my best.
