Paul is especially speaking to the doubters of the gifts in 1 Cor. 12:

Quote:
1 Corinthians 12
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Amazing to me that you guys will keep teachers and preachers and governments but discard all the rest in the above verses.

Quote:
1 Cor. 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Then Paul expounds in the 13th chapter on the fact that all of these things must work through Love or else they are nothing...for Charity never faileth. Then onto your favorite verse about these things ceasing when that which is perfect is come. But if that is the Bible, then ALL of these things must cease, including the ministry gifts, such as teachers, pastors and governments that have been given to the body of Christ...you can't just pick and choose according to your druthers...for they are all classed together, both ministry and spiritual gifts.

Quote:
Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Now wait a minute...there's the Prophets mentioned again...one of the ministry gifts given to the Church until we all come in the unity of the faith unto a perfect man in the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. But we don't need Prophets!...prophecy has ceased!

Well if you're gonna discard prophets, discard pastors, evangelists, and teachers too. You can't pluck one out and leave the others in...God didn't give you that option!
