Hi Sierra,

Quote:
No one garee can prop up a doctrine on one scripture that has been based on man's own private interpretation. When they do, they find themselves distorting the Word of Truth. None of the gifts have passed away...none of the ministry gifts and none of the spiritual gifts. This last
days Church needs the gifts in operation as great, if not greater than the early church did.

To prophesy to speak forth by divine inspirations, to predict; to prophesy with the idea of foretelling future events pertaining esp. to the kingdom of God to utter forth, declare, a thingwhich can only be known by divine revelation.

Because prophecy is now limited to Gods word in all its entirety(sola scriptura), the definition up until John penned the Book of Revelation under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit would of contained new predictions ,foretelling events pertaining esp. to the kingdom .

I believe now the definition would be:

To prophecy...to speak forth by divine inspirations events pertaining esp. to the kingdom of God to utter forth, declare a thing which can only be known by divine revelation, whether it be a past revelation that came in diverse manners or a revelation concerning future events that came in
diverse manners which includes the gift of tongues.

Any addition of a predictions and telling of future events that are not contained in God Holy revealed will to man would constitute a violation the warning given to us in Revelation
22:18-19

If someone was to say God has revealed to me through the gift of tongues a new message this I believe would be a private interpretation ,(an addition to Gods word.)

I also dont believe that outside of the written word can we know Gods revealed thoughts. The Holy Spirit is using the gift of teaching, prophecy and personel reading to bring His word ,to think he is revealing His word through a tongue would mean that the Holy spirit is actively giving private messages on a personel level outside of His written revealed will to man.

You can call this interpretation of Revelation 22:18-19 private but I think scripture backs up this verse that supports the theme of sola scriptura. Do you know of a verse that says God is still adding to His Holy Word through diverse manners such as Tongues ,apparitions, Urim and the
Thummim ETC?

The problem with the lukewarm Church in America today is that man is in control, not the Holy Spirit....teaching for doctrine the commandments of men!

Amen !
