Yes, I know this is really not the place for an in depth discussion of this topic. However it must be pointed out that despite all the sins of the Republicans commit, none is greater than the sin of stupidity (even though spiritually, that is not a sin).

Conservatives were criticized in the 1950s for yelling about all of the supposed communists. The point was made then, that for all of the squealing, that Conservatives would have no clue what a communist reallly was because they had no clue how to even define the term.

Sadly and regardless of the outcome of the 1950s, that point still appears to be true. Only now it is Republicans that cannot define what republican stands for. But then again Conservatives cannot define what "conservative" stands for either.

You want to know where to find a real democrat ? Just start attending your local republican breafast meetings. They have no clue what they believe. They have no moral base on which they stand either.

The leaders are gone and conservatives have to often think for themselves, and this is proving much tougher than conservatives would like to admit. At least, Marx had enough self-respect to learn what he believed.

Jefferson was right when he said that to retain the Republic that it would take an educated citizenry. Where are the conservatives who are supposed to believe in "that government is best which governs...LEAST !". When is the last time you talked to a conservative who had read 1. John Locke's Second Treatise on Government, the Magna Charta, or Common Sense by Thomas Paine [and I don't even like Paine !].

What Bush is is a Statist, he believes in the expansion of government power ! Now we can either be for this or against this, but one thing is for sure: It's neither what the Founding Fathers stood for nor what a conservative would believe.

And for the record, I would like to be wrong, esp. on this one.
So not that you need my permission in anycase, but feel free to disagree with me !
