Elder John replied:

Quote:
]before he became a Christian? when was that. he first banishes all the Arian bishops from the kingdom. 7 years later invites them back under his protection and even had one of them baptize him. so if anything he was baptized an Araian and not a Christian

being baptized Arian is why your sect calls him the great. wonderful revelation. I have to bookmark that one for future reference

Are you sure? The following link gives a pretty good picture of the situation:

www.newadvent.org/cathen/01707c.htm

Also, let us assume he was actually baptized by an Arian bishop. Does that make him an Arian as well, John? Also, is he still a Christian?

Remember the controversy of baptisms being performed, and disputed by St. Cyprian? Did it not resolve to be the determination the such baptisms were still valid?

Therefore, your point is..........................?

I last said:

Constantine was originally a pagan, John, who later converted to Christianity, remember?[/b]

Quote:
I remember I had just told you he never renounced his high priesthood as Pontifex Maximus. I remember I had just told you he was baptized Arian. Is that Christianity to you now?

The Arean heresy is still a heresy today as it was then, but when Constantine was baptized, he became a Christian, just like when the Baptists baptize, the candidate is a Christian, and so it is with all of the non-Catholic communities that I could also call heresies as well, John.

As for the mosiac, please give me a good link to that, if possible...

Quote:
links, links, links. does anyone read any more. Try Eerdmans history of Christianity where he pictures the mosaic in the vatican garden and not the sunburst in Saint Peters. it is Christ as the sun god apollo riding in a chariot. His high priest loved this apollo guy, remember

I read links, John, so why don't you? I read them all the time, in fact! Sure saves a lot to typing, don't you think? :)

I don't have Eerdmans history of Christianity, but if I get close to a library, I just may take a look if they have it...

I last said:

By the way, Constantine is credited for allowing Christianity to expand as it did! Constantine alone? No, as I think the holy Spirit did a little guidance here. He may have not been the best Christian in the world, waiting until his death bed before he was baptized, but the Lord sure did use this man for His purposes, don't you think, Elder J

Quote:
he also let his heathenism continue. it was not a promotion of Christianity but a tolorence. big difference

John, did not what he did, to preserve Christianity in Rome, the first emperor to do so, give a big boost to the expansion of Christianity into Europe and the rest of the world?

I don't give a tinkers hoot about Constantine for the moment, I have already acknowledged that he was probably not the best Christian in the world, but at least it would seem that the holy Spirit used him for His purpose, just as God used the "hardening of the hart" of Pharaoh to fit into His divine will.

Quote:
and yes God also used Pharoah, a mule that talked, babylon, Persia, the Medes, and others to accomplish his will. this in no way makes them godly, it makes them tools

Good for you, John! We both agree here! HOORAY! :)

[qauote]how deluded. yes he was baptized William - - - as an Arian![/quote]

So what? Interestingly, Arianism fell by the wayside as we both know, right, John? Therefore, your injection of this heresy into the subject is pure non sequitur...

God bless,

PAX
