I have already stated that trying to understand God in the way we have been discussing lately is pretty much futile. How could Mary give birth to Jesus but not God? How could Jesus die but we know God did not die?

Good questions since both assumptions are false. You tell me EJ how is that done?

Mary gave birth to the person known as Jesus. Jesus was God before He entered the womb, Jesus was God when He walked this earth, Jesus was God when His Spirit left His body and Jesus was God when he walked this earth once again.

Mary gave birth to Jesus who IS God. How hard headed do you have to be? You guys are so anti anything Catholic you take up utterly indefensible positions just to be against Catholics. Your rage against Catholicism is effecting you ability to reason.

Quote:
The Catholics seem to have the most trouble with this but we all know its because it would lower Mary to human status and down from the deity pedestal they have placed her on.

No Catholic claims that Jesus' divinity arrives from Mary. We all recognize that she is human. If you don't know that then your ignorant of Catholicism.

If we can not separate the humanity and deity of Jesus. How is it Jesus said to blaspheme Him is something that can be forgiven but to blaspheme the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin???????????????????????????????

Oh my you seem confused EJ. Perhaps you should turn from your personal interpretations to the pillar of truth.
If we can not separate the humanity and deity of Jesus
The person of Jesus has both a human nature and a divine nature. They cannot be separated.

How is it Jesus said to blaspheme Him is something that can be forgiven but to blaspheme the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable
Because Jesus is a different person than the Holy Spirit. You have heard of the doctrine of the Trinity havent you? I know its not taught explicitly in the Bible and therefore some folks calling themselves Christian do not believe it. How is it God can have 3 persons yet be one God? That is a mystery. I know mysteries are hard to accept for some who call themselves Christian because their beliefs are born of the age of Rationalism. Your question is not a question of whether God was born to a woman but the mystery or perhaps the validity of the dogma of the Trinity.

I keep pointing out that my mother did not create my spirit. Neither did Mary create Jesus' Spirit. God created my spirit and God begot Jesus' Spirit. Neither does any mother create a human nature. So no Mary did not create Jesus' human nature or Divine nature. But in your hate driven illogicalness you insist that Mary had to create Jesus' Spirit or His divine nature for her to be His mother. WHY? No mother has ever created a soul or a human nature. If Jesus had never incarnated then Mary could not be His mother. But thank God He did! And she is His mother. It is because of Jesus human nature that He was born but that does not nullify the fact that the person of Jesus who is God and man was born to Mary.

Biological mothers are people who give birth to persons in the form of a baby. Normally women give birth to persons with just human souls and human natures, but Jesus had both a human and Divine nature. Jesus is God! AMEN! He is the 3rd person of the Trinity. This person was given birth by Mary. Persons are born not natures. This person because of His human nature, was born of woman and His divine nature was also along for the ride, to believe otherwise denies the hypostatic union and puts you in the camp of the Nestorians.

Lets try simple logic.

1. A = B
2. C has a particular relationship to A.

therefore: C has a particular relationship with B.

1. Jesus is God.
2. Mary was the mother of Jesus

therefore: 3. Mary was the mother of God.

This is a very simple logical form. If the first 2 sentences are true. THEN THE 3RD SENTENCE MUST BE TRUE or you deny logic itself.
