I don't remember if Elder John gave a Scripture reference or not! :rollin

However, here we go:

"But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:" Mark 3:29

Scary verse. We should try and figure this out so we ain't found wanting! Amen?!

Well, this puts me in mind of a person who lied against the Holy Ghost. Remember?

Let me refresh your memory:

"But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles feet.

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?" Acts 5:1-3

Now, who did Ananias and his wife made the lie to?

Wasn't it a commitment given to the people of the Church? Didn't they sell their land and possessions to give to every man that had need. Wasn't this the purpose of this?

We see that these folks lied to the people. Amen?! They decided to keep part back, then give the rest. This was so that everything could be distributed to every man who had need.

But, Ananias and his wife didn't do that. They kept part.

The Bible says this:

"Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? (meaning the land)

and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou has not lied unto men, but unto God." Acts 5:4

So, when these folks lied to the people, thus lied to the Holy Ghost, thus they were really lying to God.

God is Spirit and Truth, Amen?!

So, to blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, or to lie to the Holy Ghost, thus you are sinning against God.

Does this help, Elder John?

In Christ,

Deborah
