Radar,

The "one flesh" of a husband and wife that you are having such trouble with, isn't the "mystery" being spoken of in those verses. It's the "mystery" of being one with the Lord Jesus Christ:
Quote:
Eph 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

You're confused because your church has taught you that a "marriage" is a ceremony when in truth, it is not a ceremony, it is a physical union between a man and a woman.

Before you say it, no, that is NOT my own private interpretation, it is just plain Bible truth.
Quote:
Matt. 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

It's male and female "joining", becoming "one flesh".

I know, I know...you need more:
Quote:
1 Cor. 6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

That is the scriptures interpretation, not mine.

Furthermore, we are not members of Christ's body because we do "what Christ would do". We are members of His body because we believe what He said:
Quote:
Eph. 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

To be "one flesh" with Him, takes only faith IN Him, not digestion OF Him.
Quote:
Rom. 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
