You'll be surprised to hear that I agree with you. Except, we neither believe that marriage is only a ceremony nor believe that one must take Communion in order to be part of the body of Christ.

When I said the two are not literally one flesh, I meant that in terms of how a non-believer would read those words. "One flesh" literally means they would be literally conjoined, something like Siamese twins. But even they don't have one flesh, each has his/her individual flesh.

I know the promise in Genesis and Paul's meaning. But thanks anyway, for explaining something I already know. :)
