Hey Doug, I'm glad to see you here. I thought you'd been banned. But now I see you've only been shunned. :)

I agree with those who say that if you accept Christ as your Savior and repent of your sins, you'll be saved. But I agree with the Catholic Church's take on what it means to accept Christ.

Moslems, Buddhist, Hindus, even athiests can accept Christ by following His Word even if they don't know what His word is. Those whose morality fits the requirements of the Ten Commandments and whose acts meet the requirements Jesus spelled out in Matthew Chapter 25 and His Greatest Commandment about loving God and loving our neighbor, and repent of their sins in the way they know how, do effectively accept Christ, and thus can be saved.

Paul backs this up in 1 Timothy 4:10 - "For to this end we toil and struggle, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe." (Emphasis added). Notice that he doesn't limit salvation to those who believe in Christ; those who believe, however, have an edge, because we do know Christ and we know His commands.
