Amen! Finally you admit that we can't read the bible literally!

well no Christian ever said everything in the bible is literal. what we have said repeatedly is that it is the only authority in matters of faith

Quote:
I hope you understand what I am saying here and no longer read the bible literally. I talked to my priest yesterday and he said that many people including the Catholics read the bible literally on the verses that they're comfortible with and doesn't want to read it literally on the verses that they don't like.

I totally agree and it is most times clear what is parabolic, annalogy, metaphor etc. by the context of the entire passage. too many liberal theologians simply use that excuse to undermind any legitimacy of any miracles in scripture and this is dangerous

Quote:
I hope my bible sharing helps and please don't read the verses from the bible literally. My priest told me that the only thing He was sure of that can be read literally from the bible is LOVE. Other than that, he can't be sure if any of the verses can be read literally because the meaning in each sentence and word is very deep.

well with that atitude it is a wonder he is a priest at all. how can one be sure Jesus really died or that God really dislikes sin or that there is a hell or heaven, or that there was a Jesus. maybe its just a metaphor for the good in ourselves and the world :rollin :rollin :rollin

what liberal modernist nonsense. and then you guys wonder why we say you preach a different gospel?

Brother John
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16)
