a tripartite being, consisting of body, soul, and spirit. Take away any one of these and he is no longer complete.

This is the reason for the bodily resurrection. If we did not "need" our flesh, then the resurrection would be superfluous to who we are, right?

I would say that "spiritual" does not mean the absence of the flesh, but rather the flesh under the control of the spirit. We are either being controlled by our "old man" (the fleshly nature) or our "new man" (the spiritual nature). Those who are controlled by the flesh are carnal, those controlled by the spirit are spiritual. But being spiritual does not exclude the flesh, but rather controls it.
