Where were all the Catholics who were instructed by their clerics to vote against pro-abortion candidates?

You are trying to read into the 2006 election as being a referendum on George Bush, the Republicans and the War in Iraq.

Don't hardly think so:

The Democrats had the winds behind their backs with the anti-Republican, anti-Bush and anti-Iraq war sentiment in the 2006 elections.

So much of this election was not about people voting for the Democratic candidate, but about people voting against the Republicans. The Democrats really have little mandate, and now that they have power, they have to demonstrate that they really have a plan and a vision besides complaining about Bush and the Republicans.

If the Democrats don't provide a vision and leadership over the next two years, 2008 could get really dramatic.

. . . and they will find themselves watching another inauguration from the bleachers.
