Quote:It is translated to English. There are some words in the King James that make no sense either unless they are translated with a dictionary. Deborah tells me to get a dictionary, so if these other Christians want to have a different language that is translated in their books to Enlgish, I see no problem.

Quote:It would be like speaking in tongues which God forbids if there is no interpreter!
Quote:1 Cor. 14:12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, (tongues) and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, (tongues) and I will sing with the understanding also.27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

Quote:1 Cor 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Quote:Public use of "tongues" (foreign languages unknown to speaker) was forbidden to the female gender. So when women claim they have the language (tongues) gift, I just dismiss it, based on the Scriptures.
Quote:Acts 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Quote:1 Cor. 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

Quote:I also believe that most churches today do not teach on how to discern nor test the spirit according to the Epistles of John. Because of this, many people allow themselves to be deceived.

Quote:garee please don't make statements like that which scripture doesn't back up! You may not believe in the gift of tongues and probably may not believe in any of the gifts of the Spirit being in operation in the church today, but that's your indoctrination, not Scripture. Since the spiritual gifts are for the edifying and building up of the body of Christ, I see nowhere in scripture where the body of Christ no longer needs edifying and built up! In fact more so do we need it as the last days approach.

Quote:If you read your Bible you will see that the gift of tongues is the gift of speaking so that those that do not speak your language can understand you. A necessary gift for the spreading of the Gospel.
Quote:1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.1 Corinthians 14:4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.1 Corinthians 14:13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
